The Dylan Love
STARTING WITH NOTHING, AND HANGING ON TO MOST OF IT.
In Which The Work Doesn't Stop

Great gorky malorky, I’ve been busy. I was up yesterday morning at 7:00 AM to be in a friend’s movie, because I am such a talented actor. All I had to do was be really angry at another person long enough to get it captured on video. And rest assured, it went well – I’ve got 22 years of practice with wrongfully directed aggression. That moment in their movie will be quite an emotional roller coaster, and the audience will cheer for me, the scrawny pale man who has trouble controlling his feelings.

Mom came down to visit as well. We ate at D-Hall, shopped around at a silly store called Finders Keepers, and took some pictures. That last one always gets me – mothers take enough pictures as it is, but when your mother is a professional photographer…

Mom left and I was off to shoot some more of Donnie Clark After Dark. It was a hefty shoot – out of the 17-page script, we knocked out five pages. And these actors blow me away. They’re so solid, and they’re not even theater students. Just smart guys who fully appreciate the flawless brilliance of my impeccable writing.

School has to slow down. The closer I get to the end of this whole ordeal, the more work there seems to be. Of course, the way I deal with anything is to turn into a goofball. One of my professors commented on this: “Dylan, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you serious.”

“I’m serious all the time,” I replied. “Seriously hilarious.”

I witnessed this professorial quote! Reynolds always likes to rip on his students when he sees the opportunity. I know, I’ve felt the sting of his dry sarcasm and resounding wit myself. He couldn’t have been more wrong though, but hey Catholics are often way too serious for their own good.
