STARTING WITH NOTHING, AND HANGING ON TO MOST OF IT.
Standup In Brooklyn

I think Aroma on 72nd Street is my new favorite place to get work done – incredible hot chocolate, free wifi, and no one you want to talk to. I spent several hours there today and finished many things, including an episode of The Wire.

Here’s the thing I’ve learned about doing standup – no matter what kind of day you’ve had, giving at least a half-decent comedy set will cancel out whatever negative energy is floating around in your head. I just returned from Lulu’s Lounge in Brooklyn, where I regaled a captive audience with tales about Christmas, terrible first dates, and what you can and can’t bring through airport security. By no means was I capital-g Great, but I like throwing energy into something and getting immediate feedback. That’s capital-g Gratifying.
