If some days are better than others, then this was one of the others. I’ll spare you the hairy nitty-gritty, but know that it was a whopper and that the southeast corner of 81st and Broadway is a little salty with tears. Nothing to fret over, just an intense day.
I will extricate myself productively because it’s the story of everything I’ve done up to this point. For example, I extricated myself from TJ’s cradle during my sophomore year of high school at wrestling invitationals to win third place (in the 95-pound weight class. Yeah, I was one of those.). I extricated myself from Harrisonburg, VA for a year to take on some challenging internships and make some incredible friends. I extricated myself from this idea that “if you don’t make it, then you’re nothing.” But I’m still going to try.
I can’t wait for the future to get here, but I’m not going to let that stop me from enjoying the present. This might sound all dreary and forlorn, but it’s the opposite: hopeful and optimistic.
